Our Communities

Ganinyi

Just over 110 km west of Halls Creek – Ganinyi, Goolgaradah, Girriyoowa (Pullout Springs) and Kurinyu communities are located near the larger community Yiyili that was excised from Louisa Downes pastoral lease.

Although individually incorporated, these communities share infrastructure and services.

Children of school age at Ganinyi attend the Yiyili Community School. The school caters for students in kindergarten to Year 10 from Yiyili and the surrounding outstations of Ganinyi, Girriyoowa, Goolgaradah, Kurinyjarn, and Rocky Springs.

In 2010 there were 72 students enrolled. A daily bus service operated by the school collects students from other nearby communities including Moongardie which is 30 kms away.

Our communities are alive and full of stories about how they came to be and why that place in country is important for health and culture.
