Koorabye (Nglapita) is primarily a Walmajarri community located approximately 100 km south west of Fitzroy Crossing. Close to Kadjina, the community is accessed from an unsealed road that extends approximately 95 km from the Great Northern Highway, passing through Yungngora community.
Established in the early 90s the community now has been made up of approximately 50 people and approximately 14 houses, a women’s centre, single men’s quarters and a primary school.
The school was set up by former chair of Marra Worra Worra Ivan McPhee who was a very prominent figure in the Valley.
Our communities are alive and full of stories about how they came to be and why that place in country is important for health and culture.
