Ngumpan is a small Aboriginal community established by elder Chumlee and is located 95 km south east of Fitzroy Crossing and north of Wangkatjungka.
It was established in the early 80s and has 15 or so houses with a population of 40 people.
The Ngurra Art Centre is named after a word meaning camp/home/country. Most of the artists that paint at Ngurra come from the Walmajarri and Wangkatjungka tribes in desert country to the south.
New infrastructure is planning to be built in Ngumpan including construction of a corroboree ground and a camping ground for tourists.
Women of Ngumpan have also established a soap making facility and seed jewellery making.
